In recent years, hurricanes Ivan, Katrina and Rita in the Gulf of Mexico showed the impact extreme waves can have on all types of offshore structures. Extreme waves can cause damage to floating offshore structures as a result of airgap problems, green water on the deck or slamming on the hull.
