The classification society Germanischer Lloyd (GL) in Hamburg, Germany, said that the trend toward building and operating ecoships, or highly energy-efficient vessels, would continue, given the potential cost savings for the maritime industry. There were suggestions that the focus on efficiency would fade if bunker prices fell.
