iRobot Corp. (Bedford, Massachusetts) announced recently that it has received a $1.1 million order from the University of Western Australia for six iRobot Seagliders, the largest single order of Seagliders to date.The Seaglider is a long-endurance unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) originally developed by the University of Washington and funded by the Office of Naval Research and the National Science Foundation. It can be deployed on a broad range of missions and is capable of providing vital ocean data to professionals in fields such as climate change research, marine biology, physical oceanography and weather forecasting, according to iRobot.
