On March 26, an explosion on the ROKS Cheonan, a Pohang-dass corvette, ripped through the rear of the ship. The explosion broke the ship in two and killed 46 of its crew. An investigation concluded that the ship had been hit by a North Korean CHT-02D torpedo, strongly indicating the in-volvement of a North Korean submarine.
