摘要

All places on our planet are constantly subjected to the dynamic interactions of the Earth's systems. An inventory of recent local or global news will likely reveal many stories related to Earth s systems, including volcanic eruptions, extreme weather, climate change, environmental issues, ocean and sea disturbances, glacial movement, and earthquakes. Students can understand the causes and consequences of these events by studying the structure of the Earth, its long-term geological processes (such as the sustained movements of tectonic plates and the slow uplift of mountains), and its short- term processes (such as the sudden erosion and deposition of sediment after storms and the abrupt shifts that occur at plate boundaries).
