The November 2010 mid-term election results included the loss of control of the U.S. House of Representatives by the Democratic Party as well as a vastly reduced margin in the U.S. Senate. This hardly bodes well for a president and party who have largely supported a more ambitious role for renewable energy and energy efficiency. Looked at more closely, the result could well mean that leadership for renewables and energy efficiency will not disappear but rather be assumed by another level of government, state governments.
