摘要

The Asian region is a diverse region of the world, comprising over 22 countries, with varying levels of not only development, but also climatic and economic conditions. Several sub-regional economic cooperation programmes are in operation in this Regions, such as, the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), involving ten South East Asian countries, the Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation (IOR-ARC) founded in 1997 and extending across continents and comprising of nineteen countries, including India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran. Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Thailand from the Asian region; the Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand Economic Cooperation (BIMST-EC), established in 1995, the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) comprising of seven countries. Over and above all is the Asian Cooperation Dialogue encompassing twenty-two Asian countries.
