摘要

The SAARC Workshop of Technical Experts to promote exports by least developed countries was organized at New Delhi during 24 -26 October 2005. This Workshop was one of the steps taken to facilitate smooth implementation of South Asian Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA) from 1 January, 2006. Nodal officers were identified by the various countries for acting as contact points for this activity. As the SAARC countries move on to the path of greater economic integration we will have to start seeing ourselves as one market rather than several markets in competition with each other. This is envisaged under the proposed SAFTA by January 2006. It is imperative that all SAARC Nations develop complete understanding of the WTO Rules and Regulations impacting trade. There is a need to be aware of the technical barriers to trade being put up by various countries to protect their trade interest and ensure real market access opportunity.
