摘要

Bureau of Indian Standards (Western Regional Office, Mumbai) on the occassion of World Standatds Day, organized seminar on "Standards for Safer World" on 17 October 2005. The Seminar was inaugurated by Shri K.C. Gupta. Director General, National Safety Council, Mumbai. Shri Gupta in his inaugural address, emphasized the need for spreading awareness about enormous work done by BIS as National Standards Body in preparing National Standards in the field of safety and their implementation in order to minimize huge losses caused by disasters and accidents and mitigating suffering of mankind as a result of disasters/ accidents. Earlier Shri A. K. Talwari while welcoming the delegates explained the objectives of organizing the seminar. Dr Devendra Mohan, Scientist 'F', Bureau of Indian Standards, read out the joint message received from Prof Masami Tenaka, President ISO, Shri Renzo Tani, President IEC and Shri Yoshio Utsami, Secretary General, ITU.
