Astronomers have discovered a collection of 65 young galaxies whose light has taken 12 billion years to reach Earth. This protocluster, a precursor to a giant assem-blage like the Coma Cluster, exists in a universe only 1.8 billion years old and is one of the most massive structures known in that early epoch of the universe.
