In 2008 Hewett Ellis gave a preliminary account of a species of Torymus bred from galls of the gall midge Janetiella frankumi on burnet rose (Cecidology 2008 23 (2), 51-53). This parasitoid did not appear to match any previously known species and Dr R. R. Askew believed it to be a distinct species. This opinion has now been confirmed, following the examination of a large number of specimens, and the parasitoid has been named Torymus pimpinellifoliae sp.n. A full description of the species, by Askew & Ellis, can be found in Entomologist's Monthly Magazine 2011 (2010) 146 , 99-202.
