Parking in the future will be smarter, with motorists booking parking spots in towns and cities via smartphones and apps connected to their cars. Parking spaces will be monitored by local authorities and private operators, who will be able to alter prices according to demand. However, parking providers will find themselves competing with homeowners and other property owners who will increasingly be tapping into the sharing economy.
