摘要

In this paper, the orbital period change of the RS CVn-type binary system WY Cnc is analyzed through a detaileddescription of the O — C curve by a weighted least-squares method. It is found that the period variation is sufferinga secular period decrease at a rate of dp/dt £?-1.20 × 10~(-7)d y~(-1). Since WY Cnc is a typical detached binarysystem, and both components are late-type stars, the long-term period decrease may be caused by angular momentumloss via magnetic braking.
