Oooh, a new look to our Buying Guide, except we're now looking at what prospective purchases are going to be like in the long run. We've decided that the old format of Buying Guide was a bit ... well, played out. That's why we've done this - The Works! Here we plan to go through the finer points of owning some of the best cars from Ford's back catalogue, starting with the impressive Escort Cosworth Monte Carlo. So get a cuppa, sit back, and have a read... Ever since the introduction of the Escort Cosworth to the world of rallying, it was a serious competitor. And why wouldn't it be? It was shorter, it handled better and it could be thrown around and abused far more than its predecessor, the Sapphire Cosworth, ever could. In fact, the Sierra's shortcomings just helped to highlight the Escort's abilities. Other teams had come to regard the Sapphire as nothing more than another car on the track, let alone a serious threat. So when the Escort emerged they were knocked for six. Stage after stage, race after race and driver after driver, the Escort Cosworth ate up the stages and proved itself a force to be reckoned with.
