I suddenly realised the other day that it'd been an age since I had updated you guys on the progress of my daily workhorse (okay, so it's the wife's), our trusty B7 Audi A4 Avant 2.0-litre TDI or Project Family Guy as it's known around here. And looking back at the last installment (PVW 02/12), where I looked at suitable roof box options for our regular trips to Europe, it dawned on me that quite a lot has changed since then. If I'm honest, the wife never really took to the car's manual gearbox after being 'spoilt' with the flappy-paddle DSG setup in our previous Audi A3 2.0-litre TDI S-Line. To be fair, it was a nice car and the DSG was really slick. With the replacement A4 being even less of a performance model, I must admit an auto 'box might have been the better option. After a couple of failed stabs at selling the thing earlier in the year (I didn't really want to give it away to be honest, so the asking price resulted in very little interest), I finally convinced her indoors that it made a whole heap of sense to modify the car we said we would never modify, and turn it into more of a performance motor.
