摘要

To begin, we wholeheartedly agree that sepsis has been and remains a significant problem for children. While the mortality is decreasing (2), the overall mortality remains unacceptably high. New therapies are clearly needed and must incorporate rational and clear study designs, as well as address specific physiological and biochemical differences between children and adults. We also agree that the hypothesis that different pediatric age groups may require tailored dosing and duration of activated protein C administration is important to test.
