The country's oil output and exports continue to underper-form, but it can lift production to 6m barrels a day (b/d) within three or four years, deputy prime minister Barham Salih said last month. "We are still falling very, very short of the potential of Iraq in terms of production and export levels," Salih said during a meeting at international affairs think tank Chatham House. "Every time the oil prices goes up by a dollar, I feel the pain," he said and admitted that the recent handling of the oil industry has been "no less than a disaster". In September, the country produced just 2.2m b/d and exported 1.7m b/d.
