IN THE fourth quarter of this year, Eni will choose one of two competing designs for its Goliat production platform - but both are for cylindrical floating structures, one of concrete and the other of steel. Early next year, the firm will submit a plan for development and operation (PDO) for the field, on a schedule that should see approval by Storting (parliament) in the first half of 2009 and first oil in 2012.
