EPA last week closed the comment period on its risk assessment of iodomethane (methyl iodide) and appears poised to approve the use of the chemical as a pre-plant soil fumigant.The risk assessment,based largely on data from animal studies as well as field trials in California and Florida,concluded the general public faces little risk from appropriate application of iodomethane.
