EU application of international chemical export rules,which notably require prior informed consent (PIC) from importing countries,was confirmed last week when the Environment Council adopted the regulation to implement the Rotterdam Convention.The European Parliament had already cleared the proposed regulation in January,and council approval was the final hurdle before adoption.The regulation will now take effect after publication in the European Union's Official Journal.
