The Wisconsin legislature's rules committee last week killed a proposed chemical regulation rule from the state Department of Natural Resources(DPR)because the DPR did not remove the 20 parts per billion(ppb)alachlor byproduct groundwater standard.The Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules had asked the DPR to remove the standard and begin a peer evaluation of the insecticide funded by its manufacturer Monsanto.The DPR had until Sept.5 to comply or the rule would be rejected.
