A new report from U.S.Public Interest Research Group(US PIRG)provides further documentation that toxic chemicals can be found in common baby products,prompting the American Chemistry Council(ACC)to declare the work"an advocacy piece,rather than a scientific study."Released Oct.12,"The Right Start:The Need to Eliminate Toxic Chemicals from Baby Products,"says phthalates,used to increase flexibility in plastic products,and polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDE),a family of flame retardants,can be found in teethers,bath books,and sleep accessories.
