There is a"distinct possibility"EPA will decide not to regulate perchlorate in drinking water,a senior agency official told the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee last week.EPA is still assessing information on the toxic chemical and is not yet convinced it meets the criteria for regulation under the Safe Drinking Water Act(SDWA),according to EPA Assistant Administrator for Water Benjamin Grumbles.
