After one of the most extensive risk assessments ever undertaken for a pesticide registration-according to EPA-the agency has extended the registration for the fumigant iodomethane,also known as methyl iodide.EPA's extension on Sept.29 imposes no time limitations for the fumigant's maker Arysta LifeScience North America.But continued federal approval of products containing iodomethane depends on Arysta's ability to satisfy requirements regarding labeling,training and stewardship,identification and mitigation of new risks as well as amending labels under timeframes imposed by EPA on other soil fumigant registrants.
