Ludwigshafen- BASF on Friday said it will reduce European production of polystyrene (PS) by 25% at its Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Antwerp, Belgium, sites effective 1 Oct. 2008. The company, which cited lower demand for PS as a result of the current economic situation, last month announced plans to reorganize its global styrenics business into new subsidiary companies (PCN, 1 Sept 08, p 2).
