Zhanjiang- Cnstruction has started on the refinery and ethylene complex being built as an equally-owned joint venture of Sinopec and Kuwait Petroleum Corp. (KPC) at Zhanjiang, in China's Guangdong Province (PCN, 31 Oct 2011, p 3).The $9-billion project, on which construction was expected to begin early next year, involves a 300,000-b/d re-finery that will process Kuwaiti crude and a 1-million-t/y ethylene plant. Production is expected to begin in 2015.
