Riyadh-National Chemical Carriers Ltd. Co. (NCC) has taken delivery of NCC Amal, the second of two petrochemical carriers ordered from SLS Shipbuilding Co. of South Korea (PCN, 28 Mar 2011, p 3). SLS was renamed ShinaSB Yard Co., effective 1 June 2011.NCC, owned 80% by National Shipping Co. of Saudi Arabia (NSCSA) and 20% by Saudi Basic Industries Corp., last year received board approval to purchase two 45,000-dwt carriers, each with 53,200 cubic meters of cargo capacity, for a total price of about SR322-million. NCC took delivery of the first ship, NCC Noor, earlier this year.
