Rayons-IRPC, formerly Thai Petrochemical Industry, expects construction on projects it is planning at Map Ta Phut, Thailand, to be delayed because the situation there remains unclear. Under the current constitution, proceeding with construction requires the setting up of an independent committee to determine both the environmental and health impact of each project (PCN, 25 Jan 10, p 3). More than sixty projects have been put on hold until the necessity for health impact assessments is determined.
