A study of some 80000 journal arti-cles submitted to 932 journals over a two-year period has found that having your paper rejected may not necessarily be a bad thing. At least, that is the conclusion of a report led by Vincent Calcagno, an ecologist at the Sophia Agrobiotech Institute in Sophia-Antipolis in France, which found that rejected papers that are then accepted by another journal pick up more citations than papers that are submitted and published straight into that same journal.
