摘要

The increasing number of aircraft accidents caused by bird strikes while the aircraft is in flight is a concern of the Air Force. The report concentrates on the danger during low-altitude,high-speed missions as well as takeoffs and landings at a fixed base. Methods for obtaining data are discussed with results from locations throughout the US and the data are presented to show the concentrated areas where birds migrate. Recommendations are made for a continuing study and methods for supplying flight-plan information that would avoid concentrated bird areas.
