摘要

Guidelines are given for identifying 16 European languages that use the Latin alphabet by means of the diacritical marks used with particular letters. It is not necessary to know the languages to identify them. Five Slavic languages can be identified on the basis of the Cyrillic letters they use or do not use. Guidelines are also given for discriminating between Chinese, Japanese and Korean. (ERA citation 12:046948)
