The objectives of the program are the construction of a versatile multikilocurie Co sup 60 irradiation facility and the performance of investigations in the field of radiation-induced graft polymerization. A research program has been established to develop information on the kinetics of grafting and the properties of graft copolymers. The specific objectives during the first year are the completion of the irradiation facility, the acquisition of materials, the development of grafting techniques, and the measurement of the kinetics of selected systems. This report describes the facility design concepts and the results of the study of the scattering of gamma rays through ducts.
