摘要

The report describes the findings of a three-year study of the effects of women's participation in income generation projects on household income and fertility. The major objective of the research was to determine whether such projects, with or without family planning components, increase participants' income and their receptivity to and acceptance of family planning. Other questions concerned with social differentiation, class formation, gender relations, group function and structure, and household income and expenditure were also addressed. The study focused on the program of Tototo Home Industries, a local voluntary organization located in Kenya's Coast Province, and on a sample of the 45 women's groups with which it has worked.
