This 3-year study conducted at 5 community hospitals tested a causal model of factors believed to influence turnover on both turnover and absenteeism among these hospital employees. The authors recommended changes in the model for future studies. They found that the tradition which views absenteeism and turnover as different responses to the same conditions of work was not supported.
