This report describes the results of a study to determine the relation between211u001eland use and the water quality of four tributaries to the Toms River--Long Swamp 211u001eCreek, Wrangel Brook, Davenport Branch, and Jakes Branch. The constituent 211u001econcentrations and yield values presented in this report are based on water-211u001equality and streamflow data collected at seven sites during base flow and 211u001estormflow conditions during May 1994 to October 1995. Concentrations and yields 211u001e(area-normalized instantaneous load values) during periods of base flow and 211u001estormflow in the growing and nongrowing seasons are presented for sites on Long 211u001eSwamp Creek, Wrangel Brook, and Davenport Branch. Only concentrations during base 211u001eflow are presented for the site on Jakes Branch. Water-quality constituents for 211u001ewhich concentrations and yield values are reported include total nitrogen, 211u001eammonia, nitrate, organic nitrogen, hydrolyzable phosphorus plus orthophosphorus, 211u001eorthophosphorus, total suspended solids, and fecal-coliform bacteria. 211u001eConcentrations of nitrite and Escherichia coliform bacteria also are listed. 211u001eDistributions of constituent concentrations and yields during base flow and 211u001estormflow in the growing and nongrowing season are shown in boxplots. Specific 211u001econductance, pH, temperature, and dissolved oxygen in the four tributaries also 211u001eare discussed, and their values are listed.
