摘要

The project had two distinct components: the development of211u001epharmacology/pharmacotherapeutics curriculum guidelines designed to prepare 211u001efamily nurse practitioners (FNPs) for full prescriptive authority and the 211u001edevelopment of regulatory criteria for evaluating the academic preparation and 211u001eclinical competencies of FNPs applying for prescriptive authority. A key factor 211u001ein the development of these documents was the building of consensus among 211u001erepresentatives of a wide group of stakeholders. It is anticipated that this 211u001eapproach will promote the acceptance and use of the curriculum guidelines and the 211u001eevaluation criteria by education and regulatory communities. The development and 211u001eadoption of uniform curriculum guidelines for pharmacology and 211u001epharmacotherapeutics content and of criteria for granting prescriptive authority 211u001eto FNPs would promote the delivery of safe, effective pharmacotherapeutic 211u001etreatment of clients and would protect the public by establishing uniform 211u001estandards to be met by all FNPs.
