This was the first visit by a pathologist to look at rice diseases overseas since the industryudstarted over 80 years ago. The purpose of my visit to the USA was to become familiar withudcurrent research into, and symptoms of, those diseases of rice that are potentially importantudin Australia.udWhilst my major interest was in rice blast, I took the opportunity to look at all diseases thatudwere present at the time.
