An electromechanical actuator for a fire protection installation comprises an electromagnetic device (12). The device (12) includes an electromagnet (31), a yoke (32), first and second jaws (33, 35), a plate (34), and first and second friction linings (36, 37). A body (31a) of the electromagnet (31) is arranged opposite the cylinder head (32). The device (12) has a first state, in which it blocks an output shaft of the actuator in rotation, and a second state, in which the output shaft is free to rotate. The plate (34) is disposed between the jaws (33, 35). The first lining (36) is disposed between the first jaw (33) and the plate (34). The second lining (37) is disposed between the second jaw (35) and the plate (34). In addition, an air gap (E) is formed between the body (31 a) of the electromagnet (31) and the yoke (32), at least when the device (12) is in its second state.
