the present invention relates to a locomotive brake system that includes an operator-operated brake controller and a brake pipe pressure relief valve. the brake controller includes an emergency exit door that provides pneumatic emergency signal at the emergency exit door when the brake controller is in an emergency position. the braking pipe pressure relief valve includes a housing having braking pipe emergency inlet and exhaust ports, and the first and second valves. the emergency exit door is fluidly connected to the emergency entrance door. the first valve selectively connects the braking piping port to the exhaust port when opened in response to an emergency signal on the braking piping port. the second valve selectively connects the braking pipe port to the exhaust port when opened in response to an emergency signal at the emergency entry port.
