In the present invention, provided is a new variety of potatoes which has one or more properties selected from (A), (B), and (C) as follows; and a breeding method of the new variety of potatoes. The properties include as follows: (A) a plurality of buds are formed on the outer circumferential surface of potatoes, and the depth of each bud is 0.8-2.2 mm; (B) the starch value of potatoes is 11-13 weight(%); and (C) the chromaticity of potato flesh is 72 or greater. The breeding method of the new variety of potatoes comprises the steps of (A) crossbreeding an Aj09 line and a K90-11 line as crossing parents and (B) breeding the line of a crossbreed obtained in the crossbreeding step. The new variety of potato according to the present invention provides potatoes for making potato chips, which has bright chromaticity and can be made into potato chips with excellent tastes. Also, the new variety of potato secures excellent preference in farms due to its bright flesh color, and can provide potatoes that secure excellent preference in potato chip processing industries due to the low depth of potato buds.
