A new application of forsythin, a forsythin derivative, and a composition of forsythin and forsythin lignans, in preparing a medicine for preventing or/and treating hyperlipidemia. Tests show that the forsythin, the forsythin derivative, and the composition of forsythin and forsythin lignans have a significant effect in treating hyperlipidemia, with a rapid effect, low toxicity and reduced side effects; the invention is thus a safe, effective and stable medicine for treating hyperlipidemia, and has a simple preparation process. The medicine is suitable for industrial production, easy to promote and provides a new drug source for preventing and treating hypertension and complications thereof.
