The present invention refers to an arrangement of initiators for identifying or predicting the presence of Sclerotium cepivorum Berk, which is a causal agent in the white rot of garlic and onion, in soil samples and seeds of garlic, by means of molecular markers. The present invention refers to materials for the molecular biology field. The invention more particularly refers to a sequence of recently isolated nucleotides, nucleotide sequences with a substantial identity with the same and the equivalents thereof. The invention involves identifying a pattern of amplification of DNA fragments or molecular firm, which indicates the presence of the fungus. The molecular patters have been identified, which comprise seven groups/series of molecular markets, which are relevant in the determination of the presence of the fungus. The technology of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was applied to the DNA extracted from plant or soil material.
