The present invention relates to a method and a system to compare fuel efficiency, capable of classifying fuel consumption levels through relative and/or absolute comparison of fuel efficiency among and/or in groups by performing a first grouping of vehicles to be compared with in regards to fuel efficiency based on static information (for example, vehicle models and vehicle model years), and performing a second grouping based on dynamic information (for example, travel distance, travel time, and acceleration and deceleration information) through travel information history, capable of providing eco-points. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method to compare fuel efficiency comprises the steps of: collecting static information on the vehicles to be compared, including vehicle models and vehicle model years and storing the information into a database; collecting dynamic information on the vehicles to be compared including running conditions, driving patterns, and driving habits, and storing the information into the database; and grouping the vehicles as a group to be compared by static information and a group to be compared by dynamic information, based on the collected and stored information; calculating fuel efficiency of the group to be compared by static information and of the group to be compared by dynamic information and calculating a fuel efficiency level and points for each vehicle; and providing the calculated fuel efficiency level and/or points to the vehicles, and comparing the fuel efficiency of the vehicles among or in the groups by the calculated fuel efficiency level and/or points.
