PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve the problem that a power consumption is extremely changed in accordance with an input image signal to result in an excess of power consumption over a prescribed value or an extreme reduction in usage time of a battery.;SOLUTION: A peak luminance adjustment device which adjusts peak luminance of a self-emissive display panel face is mounted with: (a) an average gray value calculation part for calculating an average gray value of an image signal inputted in a one-frame period; (b) a power consumption calculation part for obtaining standard peak luminance corresponding to the calculated average gray value to calculate a power consumption by the standard peak luminance and the calculated average gray value; and (c) a peak luminance adjustment part for adjusting the standard peak luminance so that a total value of power consumption within a certain period does not exceed a set electric energy.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
