PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a useful target for treating hepatic cancer and a method of treating hepatic cancer. PSOLUTION: There are provided an agent for inhibiting hepatic cancer cell proliferation, and an agent for treating and/or preventing hepatic cancer including a compound having an action inhibiting expression and/or function of frizzled-9 (Fz9); a method for inhibiting hepatic cancer cell proliferation, and a method for treating and/or preventing hepatic cancer characterized by treating a subject with the compound having the action inhibiting expression and/or function of Fz9; a method for identifying a compound for treating hepatic cancer and a compound for inhibiting hepatic cancer cell proliferation characterized by searching a compound having the action inhibiting expression and/or function of Fz9; and a method for determining whether a subject tissue is originated from a hepatic cancer tissue or not characterized by measuring an expression amount of Fz9 in the subject tissue.
