Probabilistic identification of targets and track initiation, for radar data with clutter, separates clutter and compares calculated probability functions with significance thresholds
The clutter field is divided into a given number of multidimensional zones with a time axis. From a measured plot in a zone, comparative magnitudes are calculated. For each, a probability function (C) is also calculated. A zone with statistically-distributed plots is established, containing clutter exclusively. For each probability function, a range of values with an upper threshold x is determined, such that with the upper threshold, a given significance level is reached. For a zone, each of the comparative magnitudes from the measured plots is compared with the respective probability function. In a zone with a target, the target is detected when at least one of the comparative magnitudes lies within the range of values.
