Measuring system to measure or study physiological and/or metabolic parameters in biological cells, or cell components, by measuring their electrical activity, using at least one sensor which is sensitive to a magnetic field, is new. Measuring system to measure or study physiological and/or metabolic parameters in biological cells, or cell components, by measuring their electrical activity, using at least one sensor which is sensitive to a magnetic field, is new. The cell materials are passively immobilized by adhesion at the sensor, without using an adhesive bond. The sensors are coils, scanning heads, hall effect sensors, magnetoresistive sensors, magnetic random access memory (MRAM) sensors and the like, a magnetically sensitive polymer or electronically active structures or arrays of sensors, in dimensions of 1-20 micro m.
