Quantitative determination of the specificity and activity of T cells in a human test material (e.g. blood) is based on the ELISPOT (enzyme-linked immunospot) assay, where the antigen required for reactivity of the cells is provided in the reaction mixture by multiple overlapping peptides (I) of 5-20 amino acids (a peptide library) and the T cells are specific for viruses, bacteria, protozoa, fungi, tumors or self-structures. An Independent claim is also included for an ELISPOT kit for this method.
