METHOD FOR PRODUCING ERYTHRO- OR THREO-FORM OF 2- HYDROXY-3-NITROBUTYRIC ACID COMPOUND, AND METHOD FOR SEPARATING ERYTHRO- AND THREO-FORM OF 2-HYDROXY-3- NITROBUTYRIC ACID COMPOUND
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing the threo-form of a 2-hydroxy-3- nitrobutyric acid compound of formula (I) (compound (I)) as an intermediate for medicaments, to provide a method for producing a mixture of the erythro- form and threo-form of the compound (I) in the ratio of the erythro-form to threo-form of about 1:1, and to provide a method for separating the erythro-form and threo-form of the compound (I).;SOLUTION: This method for producing the threo-form of a 2-hydroxy-3- nitrobutyric acid compound of formula (I) [wherein, R is a (substituted) alkyl or (substituted) aryl] comprises making a base act at ≥1 equivalent on the compound (I) in a solvent to isomerize its erythro-form into the threo-form. The method for separating the erythro-form and threo-form of the compound (I) comprises making potassium carbonate act at ≥1 equivalent, based on the threo-form, on the compound (I).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
