Medium has violet crystalline as inhibitor of gram-positive microorganisms and bromocresol purple or bromothymol blue as indicator of acid formation. Medium inhibits proteus swarming which grow as isolated colonies that ensures to isolate the pure culture of E. coli O157:H7.
